San Miguel de Allende – Shangri-La Located in the Heart of the City!

San Miguel de Allende is filled with never-ending amazing finds on every street and every street corner.  The city is recognized by UNESCO and the neighboring Sanctuary of Jesus de Atotonico as World Heritage of Humanity sites.  The town displays architecture from Baroque to late 19th century Neo-Gothic.

The town is located 165 miles northeast of Mexico City.  You can choose to fly into Leon airport or Mexico City and then take a bus to Queretaro and then a bus to San Miguel de Allende. San Miguel is located in the central highlands.

Walking is undoubtedly the best way to explore San Miguel. Day trips to nearby cities of Guanajuato, Dolores Hidalgo or Queretaro. The sightseeing trolley departs from the tourism office on the north side of the Jardín Principal, which is located two blocks from Shangri-La.

There is a substantial expat community in San Miguel.  English is a second language in this town.  It’s easy to find services in English and hotels and restaurants cater to the Americans, Canadians and Europeans.
